ISLAMABAD Renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil has strongly condemned the suicide bombing at a mosque and imambargah in Islamabad expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.
In a statement shared on social media platform X Maulana Tariq Jamil said the recent wave of terrorist attacks has caused immense pain to the nation. Referring to the earlier attack in Balochistan and the latest incident in Islamabad he described both as heartbreaking tragedies for Pakistan. He emphasized that the killing of innocent people is a grave crime against humanity and has no justification in Islam or any other religion.
The scholar offered prayers for those martyred in the attack asking Allah to grant them the highest ranks in heaven and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
The suicide attack occurred during Friday prayers in the federal capital a day earlier. At least 33 worshippers were martyred, while more than 170 people sustained injuries, many of them critically. According to initial reports, the attacker was stopped by volunteers at the mosque entrance and detonated himself near the gate. Eyewitnesses reported chaos as the blast occurred during prostration in the first rak’ah. Security forces have launched a search operation after reports that one accomplice escaped.
