Police form special investigation teams as authorities use CCTV footage and IT systems to track down suspects in a deadly robbery case that claimed the lives of a mother and her young son.
Khanewal: A mother and her 10-year-old son were killed during a violent robbery in the Kot Madina area of Khanewal, police said on Thursday, in a case that has shocked the local community.
According to police officials, armed robbers entered a residential home late at night with the intention of committing theft. When the family resisted, the attackers opened fire, killing 34-year-old Farhana Bibi on the spot.
Her son, Hassan, aged 10, reportedly tried to intervene and save his mother but was also shot and killed during the incident, officials said.
The assailants fled the scene after looting mobile phones and jewelry from the house. Police confirmed that the attackers remain unidentified.
Two younger children, three-year-old Hania and four-year-old Shaban, were present in the house during the incident but remained unharmed. Another child reportedly witnessed the attackers removing jewelry and mobile phones from the victims.
The husband of the deceased, Shah Nawaz, is currently working abroad in Saudi Arabia, according to family sources.
District Police Officer Muhammad Abid visited the crime scene shortly after being informed and reviewed the situation on-site. Senior police officers, including SP Investigation Shahid Rasheed and SDPO Saeed Sial, were also present during the initial response.
DPO Muhammad Abid met with the bereaved family and assured them that justice would be served. He stated that all available resources were being utilized to apprehend those responsible.
Police have formed special investigation teams to probe the double murder. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from Safe City cameras and employing advanced IT systems to trace the suspects.
Police said the case is being treated as a top priority, and efforts are underway to ensure the swift arrest of the perpetrators.
