NAB seeks property records of KP Housing Minister Dr. Amjad Ali’s relatives and documents related to Mega City Nowshera amid an ongoing assets inquiry.
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expanded its investigation into alleged assets beyond known sources of income involving provincial Housing Minister Dr. Amjad Ali, with the Mega City Nowshera project and property transactions involving his relatives among the matters under scrutiny.
According to details provided in the report, the ongoing inquiry has raised questions about the proposed development of Mega City Nowshera on land along the Kabul River. The report states that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Authority does not possess the land transfer documents or possession of the property associated with the project.
NAB has sought records concerning residential, commercial and industrial properties allegedly purchased or sold in the names of Dr. Amjad Ali and his family members. The notice reportedly covers 31 relatives, comprising 20 men and 11 women.
The bureau also sought details from the director general and project director of Mega City Nowshera regarding properties registered in the names of the minister’s relatives. According to the supplied report, the requested information was not provided.
A confidential notice issued in the name of former Director Imran Wazir reportedly sought complete records of written agreements between the chief executive of Lead Private Limited and the housing minister dated Feb. 15, 16 and 22, 2022
The notice also requested the names and national identity card numbers of committee members who participated in a joint visit on Feb. 24, 2022, along with relevant note sheets and other written documents.
Additional records sought by NAB reportedly include the original files for Mega City Nowshera, site surveys, land acquisition documents, technical and financial details, and correspondence with the Irrigation Department, Tehsil Municipal Administration, Agriculture Department and other relevant bodies concerning the joint venture.
The bureau also sought details of notices issued to Lead Private Limited under the Joint Venture Regulations 2021.
The inquiry reportedly includes allegations that Dr. Amjad Ali accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income and arranged the allegedly unlawful appointment of relatives to key positions in the Housing Authority. These allegations have not been established as proven wrongdoing in the supplied material.
The notice also refers to a high-rise apartment project at Warsak 1, where an apartment identified as A04 on the third floor was reportedly allotted to the minister’s daughter, identified only as Ms. (T). The bureau sought further information about property transactions involving the minister’s relatives.
Separately, the report alleges that a former housing secretary and a former director general of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Authority obtained residential accommodations in violation of applicable rules. A committee was subsequently formed and reportedly declared their actions contrary to the rules and regulations.
Imran Wazir confirmed that NAB was investigating the matter but said he could not offer any further opinion on it at this stage.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations described in the report should not be treated as established findings of guilt.
