The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has issued a notice to Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in connection with an inquiry into allegedly false and malicious social media content.
MULTAN: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a notice to senior politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in connection with an inquiry into allegedly false, fabricated and malicious content shared on social media against state institutions and government officials, according to a notice dated Oct. 13, 2026.
The notice, issued by the NCCIA’s Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Multan, directs Hashmi to appear before the agency in person to record his version in the inquiry registered under No. ENQ-CCRC-MTN-1494/26.
According to the document, the inquiry was registered on July 18, 2026. The agency stated that the matter concerns social media content allegedly shared against state institutions and government dignitaries.
The notice directs Hashmi to appear before the designated officer at the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Multan at 10 a.m. on Oct. 16, 2026. It also instructs him to bring his original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
The notice was signed by Tahir Mehmood, a sub-inspector at the NCCIA’s Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Multan.
The agency stated in the notice that failure to appear would lead it to assume that the recipient had nothing to present or state in his defense. It also cited Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code of 1860 in a warning printed at the bottom of the document regarding noncompliance.
The notice identifies the alleged social media content as the subject of the inquiry. However, the document does not establish that Hashmi committed an offense, and the allegations should not be treated as proven.
The notice concerns an inquiry rather than a final determination of criminal liability. No conclusion about the allegations can be drawn from the document alone.
The notice was issued by the NCCIA office in Multan, which is handling the inquiry. The document does not provide further details about the specific social media posts cited in the case.
