Pakistan Motorways to Reopen After PTI Protest Postponed

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Motorway Police says traffic will resume on M-1, M-14, E-35 and other closed routes at 6 a.m. after the postponement of the PTI protest.

Motorway Police has announced that all motorways closed ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest and long march in Islamabad will reopen to traffic at 6 a.m. today.

According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, traffic will be restored on major routes including the M-1 Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway, M-14 Islamabad-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway and E-35 Hazara Motorway. Other closed motorways and roads will also be reopened for normal traffic.

The closures were implemented as part of security arrangements ahead of the PTI’s planned protest and long march in Islamabad on Sept. 27. Islamabad Traffic Police had announced on Sept. 23 that the M-1, M-14, Hazara Motorway and parts of the Grand Trunk Road, among other key routes, would remain closed from 11 p.m. until further orders.

M-1 closed between Islamabad and Chachh Interchange

According to Motorway Police, the M-1 was closed to all traffic in both directions between the Islamabad Toll Plaza and Chachh Interchange.

The motorway is a major link between Islamabad and Peshawar, and its closure affected motorists traveling along the route.

Traffic suspended on M-14

The M-14 Islamabad-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway was also closed between Hakla and Kundal as part of the security measures.

Traffic movement on the route was suspended due to the security situation surrounding the planned protest.

Hazara Motorway and GT Road closures

The E-35 Hazara Motorway was closed near Burhan Interchange, while the GT Road was blocked to traffic at Attock Khurd. Traffic restrictions were also imposed on other connecting roads leading toward Islamabad.

The closures were intended to facilitate security arrangements ahead of the PTI’s announced protest and long march.

Motorways to reopen after protest postponement

The PTI had announced a protest and long march in Islamabad for Sept. 27, prompting authorities to put security measures and roadblocks in place on major routes leading toward the capital.

Following the postponement of the protest, Motorway Police decided to reopen the affected routes. The spokesperson said traffic would resume at 6 a.m. on the M-1, M-14, E-35 and other previously closed motorways.
