ISPR Director General Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry says Pakistan will support Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while any additional military assistance will depend on the circumstances and formal requests.
Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security, with Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry describing the protection of Islam’s holiest sites as an absolute priority.
In an interview with Independent Arabia, Chaudhry said Pakistan considered the security of the two holy mosques in Makkah and Madinah non-negotiable. He said Islamabad would continue providing Riyadh with the assistance needed to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The Saudis’ sovereignty and territorial integrity, security, and foremost, the security of the Haramain Sharifain is paramount,” Chaudhry said, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the kingdom.
His remarks come amid reported renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and concerns about the potential expansion of regional hostilities.
Pakistan Discusses Collective Deterrence
Chaudhry said the collective deterrence mechanism under the Makkah pact could be activated if diplomatic efforts failed and hostilities escalated. He indicated that participating countries could respond collectively to threats against Saudi Arabia.
The ISPR chief also said Pakistan was providing Saudi Arabia with necessary military support and remained prepared to use available means to help protect the kingdom.
His comments highlight Islamabad’s stated commitment to Saudi security while pointing to the potential role of collective action if the regional situation deteriorates further.
Pakistan’s Position on Possible Military Assistance to Yemen
Asked whether Pakistan might provide direct military assistance to Yemen’s internationally recognized government, Chaudhry said he was unsure whether Islamabad had received a formal request.
He added that Pakistan would examine any request submitted to it and make a decision based on the circumstances.
The statement leaves open the possibility of further assistance but does not confirm any decision to deploy Pakistani forces or expand military involvement in Yemen.
