Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed immediate measures to ensure the safe repatriation of four injured Pakistanis and the bodies of three others from Somalia.
LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed immediate measures to ensure the safe return of Pakistani citizens injured or killed in Somalia, the Prime Minister’s Office said Sunday.
Four injured Pakistani citizens Usman Ghani, Aqeel Khan, Ameen bin Shams and Yasir Khan were flown to Karachi on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-694, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The bodies of three Pakistani citizens who died in Somalia Rafiullah Khan, Syed Kashif Umar and Mahmood Ahmed Ansari were also being transported to Karachi on the same flight.
Flight ET-694 was scheduled to arrive in Karachi at 4:40 p.m. Pakistan local time on Oct. 4, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Atif Aziz and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Djibouti Aqsa Nawaz facilitated the departure of the injured Pakistanis and the bodies from Addis Ababa airport for Karachi.
The Prime Minister’s Office said Shehbaz personally and continuously monitored the repatriation process.
The measures were taken on the prime minister’s instructions to facilitate the safe return of the injured citizens and the remains of those who died in Somalia.
