Security forces thwarted a suicide vehicle attack in South Waziristan and carried out multiple intelligence-based operations across Pakistan, killing 23 suspected militants and recovering weapons and explosives.
Pakistan’s security forces killed 23 suspected militants during a series of intelligence-based operations across South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Taunsa Sharif, and Balochistan, while also preventing a major suicide attack on a security check post, according to security officials.
The most significant operation took place in South Waziristan, where militants attempted to drive an explosives-laden vehicle into a security installation. Alert troops intercepted and destroyed the vehicle before it reached the outer defensive perimeter, killing the suicide bomber instantly and preventing casualties among security personnel.
Following the failed attack, three other militants escaped into a nearby building. Security forces launched a clearance operation, eliminating all three suspects. Search and sanitization efforts remain underway to ensure the area is secure.
Security officials said additional operations are continuing in Dargai Kot, Laman, and surrounding areas of Wana to dismantle suspected militant hideouts and disrupt terrorist movement.
In Lakki Marwat’s Khui area, another intelligence-based operation resulted in the deaths of four suspected militants linked to the Fitna al-Khawarij-affiliated Astarana group. Officials identified three of those killed as Abu Dujana, Arshad, and Abu Zar alias Khayal Badin, while the identity of the fourth individual is still being verified.
A separate operation in the border region of Taunsa Sharif between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab left three militants dead and several others injured. Authorities confirmed one of the deceased as Amir Baloch, with the identities of the remaining suspects still under investigation.
Meanwhile, under Operation Al-Azm, security forces continued intelligence-led actions against suspected militant networks in Balochistan. Officials said operations in Kili Kand Umrani, Khad Kocha, Mastung, and nearby areas destroyed multiple hideouts and ambush positions while recovering a significant cache of weapons and explosives.
According to security sources, 16 militants have been killed so far during the ongoing operations in Balochistan, bringing the overall death toll from the latest nationwide operations to 23.
