RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed five militants during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Washuk district on the night of Oct. 12-13, the Inter-Services Public Relations said Thursday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was launched following reports of the presence of militants allegedly belonging to Fitna al Hindustan, which the ISPR described as an Indian proxy.
The statement said security forces swiftly targeted and dismantled a militant hideout, resulting in the deaths of five militants allegedly sponsored by India.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered during the operation, according to the ISPR. The statement did not provide further details about the recovered items or identify the individuals killed.
Search operations underway
The ISPR said sanitization operations were underway in the area to locate and eliminate any other militants who might be present.
The ongoing operations aim to ensure that no additional suspected militants remain in the area following the raid, the statement said.
The military’s media wing reiterated that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam.”
The initiative was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, according to the statement.
The ISPR said the campaign would continue at full pace to counter what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism in Pakistan.
The statement did not provide details about any casualties among security personnel or specify whether further arrests had been made.
The operation comes as part of Pakistan’s continuing counterterrorism efforts, with security forces conducting intelligence-based actions against suspected militant networks in different areas of the country.
