ISLAMABAD: A notification circulating on social media claims that the National Highway Authority (NHA) has revised toll tax rates for national highways and motorways, with the new charges set to take effect from July 10, 2026. The document has quickly gained attention, raising concerns among motorists about another increase in travel costs.
The notification, dated July 6, 2026, lists revised toll charges for multiple routes, including the M-1, M-3, M-4, M-5, M-14 and the Hazara Expressway, as well as national highways and the Kohat Tunnel.
However, an independent verification found that while the NHA has recently increased toll rates on the Lahore-Islamabad (M-2) Motorway, official confirmation for the wider nationwide toll schedule shown in the circulating document has not yet been published through the NHA or widely reported by major national media.
Therefore, the viral notification should be treated as unverified until the National Highway Authority issues an official announcement or uploads the notification to its official channels.
The development comes amid recent changes to motorway toll policies, including revised M-2 toll charges and legal proceedings regarding the additional surcharge imposed on vehicles without M-Tag or with insufficient M-Tag balance.
