Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian followed by a one day visit to Saudi Arabia to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman aiming to improve regional relations. Speaking on Geo News’ Naya Pakistan Prime Minister’s Political Advisor Rana Sanaullah said Pakistan’s leadership remains in close contact with Muslim countries especially Saudi Arabia, to ensure no escalation or targeting by Iran occurs.
Rana Sanaullah emphasized that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a defense agreement, and Islamabad is committed to it. He noted that Saudi Arabia has adopted a cautious approach in the region, preferring to avoid immediate reactions which Pakistan respects. The advisor expressed hope that ongoing discussions with Iran and Saudi Arabia would lead to better outcomes.
On domestic matters Rana Sanaullah discussed the governor changes in Sindh and Balochistan stating that the decision for a new Sindh governor was based on evolving circumstances. He clarified that the appointment of Kamran Tessori was made during the caretaker government and that the Pakistan Muslim LeagueN (PML N) will now provide the governor for Sindh a move made with consensus and proper communication with MQM.
These diplomatic and administrative steps highlight Pakistan’s efforts to maintain regional stability while managing internal political adjustments.
