Peshawar Renames Aman Chowk After Captain Roohullah Shaheed in Tribute to Valor

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A newly renovated landmark in Peshawar honors the sacrifice of a national hero with a memorial and symbolic Wall of Pakistan.

PESHAWAR: Authorities in Peshawar have officially renamed the historic Aman Chowk to “Captain Roohullah Shaheed Chowk” in tribute to Captain Roohullah Shaheed, a decorated officer who laid down his life in the line of duty.

The initiative comes as part of a broader beautification and uplift campaign led by the Pakistan Army across the provincial capital. The square has undergone significant renovation, transforming it into a symbolic public space reflecting national pride and remembrance.

At the center of the chowk, a memorial monument has been installed to honor Captain Roohullah’s sacrifice. A ceremony marking the renaming was attended by his father, who was invited as the chief guest, alongside the Station Commander Peshawar and local dignitaries.

Captain Roohullah was martyred on Oct. 24, 2016, while bravely confronting militants during the terrorist attack at the Quetta Police Training College. His courage during the assault earned him the prestigious Tamgha-e-Jurat from the government of Pakistan.

Adding to the site’s significance, a “Wall of Pakistan” has also been constructed at the chowk, artistically showcasing the country’s national identity, historic landmarks, and cultural heritage.
