Authorities deploy extensive security and monitoring systems to ensure safe execution of a four-day polio vaccination campaign targeting children under five.
NOWSHERA: A four-day anti-polio vaccination campaign has been formally launched in Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under strict security arrangements, aiming to protect children under the age of five from the crippling poliovirus.
According to officials, comprehensive measures have been implemented across the district to ensure the safety of polio workers and the smooth execution of the campaign. District Police Officer Ahmad Shah is personally overseeing the security plan.
Police have established checkpoints at key entry and exit points of the district, with commandos deployed to monitor suspicious activities and prevent any untoward incidents. Authorities said the strategy is designed to maintain a secure environment for vaccination teams.
More than 1,272 police officers and personnel have been assigned to provide security to polio teams. Under the supervision of SDPOs, both mobile and foot patrols have been intensified to ensure full protection.
Security officials are conducting thorough checks of individuals and vehicles to mitigate potential threats. A district-level control room has also been set up to monitor the situation in real time throughout the campaign.
A Quick Response Force remains on high alert to handle any emergency promptly.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Ahmad Shah emphasized that the success of the campaign is a collective responsibility and crucial for the complete eradication of polio. He urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure their children receive polio drops.
