Wide-ranging recognition highlights gallantry, service, and long-term dedication across ranks approved by President
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved military honors for 1,989 members of Pakistan’s armed and civil armed forces, recognizing acts of gallantry and distinguished service, the President’s Secretariat said Monday.
The awards were conferred under Article 259(2) of the Constitution on the occasion of Pakistan Day, following recommendations from the Prime Minister, according to an official statement.
The honors span a wide range of ranks and categories, reflecting both bravery in action and long-term contributions to national security.
Among the top distinctions, 23 officers received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), while 100 were awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) for exceptional service. In recognition of valor, 11 personnel were granted the Sitara-i-Basalat and 475 received the Tamgha-i-Basalat.
Additionally, 136 Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 130 Imtiazi Sanad were approved for notable performance and dedication.
The awards also acknowledged sustained service, with 175 Tamgha-i-Khidmat (Military) Class-I, 319 Class-II, and 620 Class-III medals distributed among personnel.
