The PCB has agreed on a tentative March 19 to May 2 window for PSL 12, with formal dates subject to consultations with franchises.
The 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League is tentatively scheduled to begin on March 19, 2027, with the final expected to be played on May 2, as the Pakistan Cricket Board moves toward finalising the tournament calendar.
The PCB has agreed on the proposed March-May window, although the dates will be formally confirmed after consultations with the PSL franchises.
The proposed schedule comes after differing preferences over the timing of the tournament. The broadcaster had reportedly favoured an earlier January start to create more sponsorship opportunities, while franchise owners preferred an April window. The March-May schedule has emerged as a compromise between the competing preferences.
PSL 12 is expected to take place after Eid, with Ramadan forecast to begin on Feb. 8 next year. However, the tournament will once again overlap with the Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to run from March 10 to May 15.
The PSL has faced similar scheduling clashes in previous seasons. Despite the overlap, officials believe the timing has not significantly affected the league’s domestic viewership or fan interest.
The proposed window could also help the PSL attract overseas players who are not part of the IPL. Several franchises have already started contacting international players, with a number of high-profile names reportedly being considered for their PSL debuts.
The player auction date has not yet been finalised. Venue selection and other logistical arrangements are also expected to be completed in the coming weeks as preparations for the 12th edition gather pace.
