The Punjab government has unveiled a special anthem to mark the return of the Basant festival in Lahore with three day celebrations set to begin on February 6. The song titled Phir Aai Basant (Basant is Back) has been launched by the Punjab Information and Culture Department as part of preparations for what has been described as the province’s most awaited cultural event.
The anthem performed and composed by renowned singer Bilal Saeed was shared on Alhamra Lahore’s official Instagram account. Its music video features model and actor Nabeel Zubairi along with food blogger Ali Rehman, and showcases Lahore’s historic charm through scenes filmed in the old city traditional streets and the iconic picture wall of Lahore Fort.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that a major Basant event will be held at Liberty Chowk on February 7.To encourage public participation, the provincial government has also declared public holidays on February 6 and 7.
Across Lahore preparations have reached their peak with colourful decorations adorning the city and a giant kite installed at Liberty Chowk.The Punjab cabinet has approved the manufacturing of kite flying materials in Lahore and four other districts while authorities have assured strict safety and security measures to ensure a safe and festive environment for citizens.
