Rawalpindi ADC Files Domestic Violence Case Against Husband

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Rawalpindi ADC Headquarters Maliha Sahar accused her husband of prolonged physical and psychological abuse, confinement and threats; police arrested him and a court ordered judicial remand.

RAWALPINDI: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Rawalpindi Maliha Sahar has registered a case against her husband, Jawad Ali, alleging prolonged physical and psychological abuse, wrongful confinement and threats, according to the FIR and multiple reports published on Oct. 5 and 6.

The Women Police Station in Rawalpindi registered the case on Sahar’s complaint. Police subsequently arrested Jawad Ali and presented him before a local court, which sent him to Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand.

According to the FIR, Sahar said she had faced physical, psychological and emotional abuse for several months. She alleged that she had initially remained silent in an effort to preserve her family and marriage, but claimed that her husband’s behavior had become increasingly violent and coercive.

The complaint states that the situation escalated on the evening of Oct. 2, when Jawad allegedly assaulted Sahar, took away her mobile phone and locked her inside a room. She further alleged that she was prevented from contacting her family, meeting her two minor children or seeking assistance from police and emergency services.

Sahar also alleged that the threats and psychological abuse continued through the night and into Oct. 3. According to the FIR, she claimed that her husband threatened to kill her and harm their children, leaving her fearful for her safety.

The complaint also sought police protection, legal action, a medical examination and preservation of evidence relating to injuries allegedly sustained during the incident.

The case was registered under Sections 342 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation, according to police and media reports.

Police arrested Jawad Ali after registration of the case and produced him before the court. The court subsequently ordered his 14-day judicial remand, sending him to Adiala Jail. Police said the investigation into the allegations was continuing.

The allegations against Jawad Ali have not been established in court, and he remains an accused in the case. The court’s remand order relates to custody during the legal proceedings and does not constitute a determination of guilt.

The report has attracted attention because the complainant is a serving senior district administration officer. However, the case remains subject to investigation and further judicial proceedings.
