British rock legend Rod Stewart says he is feeling much better after a coronary stent procedure, while preparing for his final major rock and roll tour in 2027.

Rod Stewart has offered fans an encouraging update on his health after undergoing a coronary stent procedure, saying he feels much better and has returned to physical activity. The 81-year-old British singer recently revealed that he had completed a 400-metre swim, months after a health scare prompted him to cancel his remaining tour dates for 2026.

Stewart shared the update during a public appearance with his wife, Penny Lancaster, at a charity gala performance of Sinatra the Musical at London’s Aldwych Theatre on Oct. 15.

Asked about his recovery, the singer responded enthusiastically: “F***ing brilliant.”

His comments offered reassurance to fans who had been concerned about his condition following his August procedure. The swim also provided a glimpse of his return to exercise as he continues to recover.

Rod Stewart’s heart procedure followed onstage health scare

Concerns about Stewart’s health emerged in June when he briefly interrupted a concert in Utah after nearly fainting. He was also seen using an oxygen mask during the incident, raising questions about his well-being.

The singer underwent a coronary stent procedure in August. The treatment involved addressing a problem affecting blood flow through his coronary arteries. Although the procedure was described as routine, Stewart subsequently cancelled his remaining tour dates for the year to allow time for recovery.

The decision marked a pause in the demanding performance schedule that has defined much of his decades-long career. Known for his distinctive raspy voice and energetic stage presence, Stewart has continued to attract audiences across generations.

His latest comments indicate that he is feeling positive about his recovery. However, his public update does not provide a detailed medical assessment of his condition or establish when he might resume regular live performances.

Rod Stewart announces final rock and roll tour for 2027

Alongside his health update, Stewart has also outlined plans for the next stage of his musical career.

On Sept. 28, he announced on Instagram that 2027 would mark his final major rock and roll tour, titled The Final Encore Tour.

“I have to announce next year will be my last tour ever, ever, ever,” he wrote.

Stewart clarified that the decision did not mean he was retiring completely from music.

“I’m not retiring, but this will be the last rock and roll tour,” he said.

The announcement signalled a major transition for the British performer, whose career has spanned decades and produced a catalogue of internationally recognised hits. While he intends to bring his large-scale touring career to a close, his statement leaves open the possibility of continuing his musical activities.

What fans can expect from the 2027 tour

The planned tour is expected to include performances across North America and Europe, with destinations listed in Florida, Georgia and Colorado, as well as Canada, Ireland, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and mainland Europe.

The concerts will give audiences an opportunity to hear some of Stewart’s best-known songs as he approaches the end of his major touring career.

For now, the singer’s latest health update and return to swimming have provided encouraging news for fans. His recovery will remain a point of interest as preparations continue for the 2027 tour, although no specific return-to-stage date has been established in the supplied information.
