Salman Khan praises the distinct acting styles of Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, highlighting the restraint shown by Ranveer in Dhurandhar.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has declined to declare either Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh the better actor, saying their distinct performances should be appreciated on their own merits rather than compared directly.
During an appearance on the ninth and final season of Koffee With Karan, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, Salman was asked during the rapid-fire round to choose between Ranbir’s performance in Animal and Ranveer’s portrayal in Dhurandhar. Instead of naming a winner, he explained why both actors deserved recognition for their individual strengths.
The 60-year-old actor appeared as the show’s first guest, bringing a measured perspective to a debate that frequently attracts attention among Bollywood fans.
Salman Khan Explains Why Both Actors Stand Out
During the conversation, Karisma Kapoor suggested that Salman was being diplomatic by avoiding a direct answer. However, Salman maintained that his response reflected his genuine opinion rather than an attempt to avoid controversy.
He described both Ranbir and Ranveer as fantastic actors, pointing to the different qualities they bring to their roles. According to Salman, one performer stands out for tremendous energy, while the other demonstrates remarkable intensity.
Rather than placing their performances in a hierarchy, Salman emphasized that the actors have distinct approaches that make their respective roles compelling.
His comments offered an alternative to the frequent comparisons between Bollywood’s leading stars, suggesting that audiences can appreciate different acting styles without deciding that one performance is necessarily superior to another.
Salman Praises Ranveer Singh’s Restraint in Dhurandhar
Although Salman declined to choose between the two actors, he specifically praised Ranveer for controlling his natural energy in Dhurandhar.
Ranveer is known for his expressive acting, energetic screen presence and larger-than-life performances. Salman highlighted the challenge of holding back those familiar traits when a character requires a more restrained approach.
According to his assessment, controlling that energy takes confidence and discipline, particularly for an actor accustomed to delivering highly expressive performances.
Salman suggested that an actor’s ability to adapt is an important part of the craft. Rather than relying on familiar techniques or constantly displaying intensity, a performer must understand the character and adjust accordingly.
His remarks focused on the discipline behind Ranveer’s portrayal, emphasizing that acting ability is not measured solely by the energy an actor brings to the screen but also by knowing when to hold it back.
Karan Johar agreed with Salman’s assessment during the discussion.
Koffee With Karan Prepares for Its Final Season
Salman’s appearance comes as Koffee With Karan prepares to conclude its long-running run with its ninth season.
Hosted by Johar, the celebrity talk show has featured numerous actors, filmmakers and other entertainment personalities discussing their careers, personal experiences and relationships. Its candid conversations and rapid-fire segments have frequently generated discussion among Bollywood audiences.
The final season marks a significant moment for the programme, which has remained a familiar fixture in Indian entertainment television for more than two decades.
Salman’s comments about Ranbir and Ranveer added another discussion about acting and performance to the show’s legacy.
His central point was that both actors possess qualities that distinguish their work. Rather than turning their performances into a competition, he encouraged viewers to recognize the different strengths each brings to the screen.
