Security forces conduct intelligence-based operations in Bannu, South Waziristan and Khuzdar, killing 11 militants and recovering weapons and ammunition.
ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 11 militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, security sources said Thursday.
In Bannu, security forces launched an intelligence-based operation after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area. During an exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed, while weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession, according to security sources.
In another operation in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, security personnel targeted a group of militants referred to by authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij. Five terrorists were killed during the operation, the sources said.
Meanwhile, security forces conducted an operation in the Sasool area of Khuzdar district in Balochistan against militants described by authorities as Fitna al-Hindustan terrorists. Four terrorists were killed in the operation.
The three operations brought the total number of militants killed to 11.
Security sources said security personnel effectively engaged the militants during the Khuzdar operation with the assistance of quadcopters. Aerial surveillance helped identify and target militant positions during the operation.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered after the operations, while sanitisation operations were launched in the affected areas to ensure that no other militants remained in the vicinity.
