The White House has released photographs showing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif meeting U.S. President Donald Trump during a reception hosted for world leaders on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The photographs were released by the White House and shared by Pakistan’s Press Information Department (PID), showing Sharif and Trump standing together, smiling and shaking hands. Another image shows Trump making a thumbs-up gesture alongside the Pakistani prime minister.
The interaction took place during a reception hosted by President Trump for world leaders attending the UN General Assembly. No further details about the conversation between the two leaders were provided in the information released with the photographs.
The 81st UN General Assembly high-level debate was held from Sept. 22 to 26, with a final sitting on Sept. 28. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the General Assembly on Sept. 25 during his official visit to New York.
During the visit, Sharif also held bilateral meetings with other world leaders on the sidelines of the UN gathering. His appearance at the reception with Trump marked another face-to-face interaction between the two leaders.
The meeting came after several previous encounters between Sharif and Trump, including their participation in the inaugural Board of Peace meeting in Washington in February 2026. The two leaders had also met at the White House in September 2025 and at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt in October 2025, according to reports.
