The Balochistan government has announced that the security situation across the province including the provincial capital Quetta has largely returned to normal following recent incidents. Authorities however confirmed that intelligence based search and comb operations are still underway in certain areas of the city.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind said that around 100 suspects have been taken into custody during operations in Quetta and that weapons were also recovered from the affected areas. He added that internet data services in Quetta are expected to be fully restored today though temporary disruptions may continue in locations where operations are ongoing.
Rind also confirmed that repair work is continuing on roads in Nushki that were damaged during recent unrest. Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary Interior Muhammad Hamza Shafqat reported that nearly 60 prisoners escaped during attacks on jails in Nushki and Mastung. Security forces are actively searching for the escaped inmates.
The provincial government has assured citizens that security measures have been strengthened throughout Balochistan to prevent further incidents.
Earlier Pakistan’s security forces completed Operation Raddul Fitna One in Balochistan. According to military sources 216 terrorists were eliminated during the intelligence driven operations targeting India backed militant groups seeking to disrupt peace and development.The operation claimed the lives of 22 security personnel while 36 civilians including women and children, were martyred.
