The banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has confirmed that several of its members were killed in recent military strikes carried out by Pakistan inside parts of Afghanistan, according to a statement released Sunday.

In a written statement attributed to spokesman Mohammad Khurasani, the group acknowledged casualties following what it described as cross-border attacks targeting its positions. The statement said the strikes hit multiple locations and resulted in the deaths of fighters, though it did not specify the exact number.

Pakistani officials have not immediately issued a detailed public response regarding the latest claims. However, Islamabad has repeatedly accused militants of using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan — allegations Kabul has previously denied.

The confirmation marks a rare public acknowledgment of losses by the group and comes amid heightened security tensions along the porous border. Analysts say such admissions often signal significant operational pressure on militant networks operating in remote frontier regions.

Regional security observers warn that escalating cross-border strikes could further strain relations between the two neighboring countries already grappling with fragile diplomatic ties and persistent militancy.
