Pakistan on High Alert After Afghan Social Media Threats Target Islamabad Landmarks

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Authorities heighten security at key public sites after online threats and intelligence warnings signal potential attacks on soft targets

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani authorities have issued a nationwide high alert following online threats circulating on Afghan social media platforms targeting sensitive locations in the capital, including the Faisal Mosque and Centaurus Mall, after recent cross-border operations.

Security agencies warned that militant groups could attempt attacks on “soft targets” such as NADRA offices, railway stations, bus terminals, and Ramadan and Chand Raat markets. Law enforcement units have increased patrols and surveillance at major public venues, particularly in Islamabad and other urban centers.

The heightened alert comes amid rising tensions between Islamabad and Kabul. A recent United Nations assessment reported that between 6,000 and 10,000 militants remain present in Afghanistan, raising concerns among Pakistani officials about cross-border security risks.

Sources familiar with the matter said Pakistan is prepared to respond firmly under its defensive strategy if further threats materialize. Officials indicated that any future action could involve coordinated efforts between air and ground forces aimed at dismantling militant hideouts.

Authorities urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity, while emphasizing that security forces are fully prepared to counter potential threats.
