In a tragic incident in Punjab’s Bhakkar District, two police officers were martyred and three others injured in a terrorist attack on the Dajal checkpost, officials confirmed. The assault occurred near the bridge connecting Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the time of Iftar.
According to DPO Shehzad Rafiq Awan, the terrorists opened fire at the Punjab Police personnel stationed at the checkpost. Along with three police officers, a civilian was also injured in the attack.
The martyred officers have been identified as Fahim and Shehbaz. The injured were immediately shifted to the DHQ Hospital for medical treatment. One of the injured remains in critical condition.
Deputy Commissioner Ehsan Ali confirmed that emergency services have been enforced at the hospital, and all necessary medical care is being provided to the victims.
Police authorities have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and ensure security in the area. The attack has raised concerns over the safety of security personnel stationed at key checkpoints, highlighting ongoing threats to law enforcement in border-adjacent regions.
