JD Vance has stated that the United States will continue its military campaign against Iran for a short period to ensure long term strategic objectives are achieved. Speaking in an interview with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson Vance said the US had already met most of its military goals but would press on briefly to weaken Iran’s government capabilities.
He emphasized that Donald Trump intends to avoid prolonged involvement, stressing that the operation is designed to prevent future conflicts. The president’s going to keep at it for a little while longer to ensure that once we leave we don’t have to do this again Vance said adding that the goal is to significantly limit Iran’s long term capacity.
Vance acknowledged that the conflict has led to a temporary rise in global fuel prices but assured that the increase would not last. He described the situation as a short term reaction to a conflict expected to conclude soon.
Reiterating the administration’s stance Vance said the US does not intend to remain engaged in Iran for an extended period expressing confidence that forces will withdraw once key objectives are secured.
