A passenger coach carrying 35 people crashed into a deep ravine in the Dhana Sar area on the Zhob–Dera Ismail Khan road, prompting emergency rescue operations and a hospital alert across nearby districts.
A devastating road accident claimed at least 24 lives after a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in the Dhana Sar area along the Zhob–Dera Ismail Khan road on Friday, officials confirmed.
According to Sherani Deputy Commissioner Wali Kakar, the coach was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar with 35 passengers on board when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to fall into the ravine. The crash occurred on a mountainous stretch of road known for its difficult terrain.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene and pulled eight injured passengers from the wreckage before shifting them to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Emergency workers continued recovery operations under challenging conditions, while authorities said efforts remained focused on evacuating victims and completing relief activities.
District officials stated that emergency response teams were deployed immediately after the incident and are closely monitoring the ongoing operation. Authorities warned that the final casualty count could change as recovery efforts continue.
Meanwhile, health authorities in Balochistan declared an emergency at nearby hospitals to ensure timely medical care for the injured. The tragic crash has once again highlighted concerns over road safety on Pakistan’s mountainous highways, where difficult driving conditions and accidents continue to pose significant risks to travelers.
