US President Donald Trump, while speaking to the media, announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon and also discussed ongoing efforts toward a peace deal with Iran.
According to international reports, Trump said a meeting with Iran could take place over the weekend, warning that if a deal is not reached, conflict could resume.
He added that there is no need to extend the ceasefire further, claiming that Iran has now shown willingness on issues it had previously resisted. Trump stated that Iran has agreed not to develop or possess nuclear weapons and may even hand over its nuclear material.
The US president made strong remarks about Iran’s current position, claiming that its leadership and military capabilities have significantly weakened.
Trump further said that negotiations with Iran are progressing positively and appreciated Pakistan’s role in the process. He noted that he may visit Pakistan if a deal with Iran is successfully finalized.
He also praised Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, calling him a “great person” and acknowledging his role in ceasefire efforts.
Trump confirmed that he had productive phone calls with the Lebanese president and Israeli prime minister, both of whom agreed to the ceasefire. He added that he is planning to meet both leaders soon.
