According to local sources, the man had journeyed to the northern region on a motorcycle with his children when his health suddenly deteriorated. With no immediate resources or support, the situation quickly turned dire.
Residents in the area responded without hesitation, shifting the ailing traveler to the Regional Hospital Chilas. Medical specialists, including Dr. Sana and her team, assessed the patient’s condition as critical and advised immediate referral to a higher medical facility in Gilgit for advanced treatment.
As the gravity of the situation unfolded, the patient’s children reportedly expressed their helplessness, telling officials they had no money to continue the treatment or arrange transportation.
The plea triggered an immediate response from Assistant Commissioner Chilas, Manzoor Hussain Payam, who mobilized administrative resources without delay. A magistrate, identified as Ameen, was dispatched to the hospital to oversee arrangements, while the assistant commissioner personally ensured an ambulance was made available for the emergency transfer.
In a gesture that has since resonated widely, Payam also announced he would cover the fuel expenses for the ambulance out of his own pocket, removing the final barrier to the patient’s urgent relocation.
