Family Dispute Suspected as Police Launch Manhunt After Brutal Shooting in Mellowal Area
SARGODHA: A shocking triple murder in Sargodha has sent waves of fear across the region after a man allegedly gunned down three women including his niece, sister-in-law, and a domestic worker in the suburban area of Bhera.
The incident occurred in Mellowal, a locality on the outskirts of Bhera, where the suspect, identified as a step-uncle of one of the victims, reportedly opened fire inside a residence. All three women died on the spot, according to initial police reports.
The deceased have been identified as Farhat Bibi, 47, Noreen Bibi, 36, and Hinaf Bibi, 25. Authorities confirmed that the victims sustained fatal gunshot wounds, leaving no chance of survival by the time emergency responders arrived.
Taking immediate notice of the incident, the District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha directed the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bhera to submit a detailed report. Soon after the shooting was reported, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Miani police station reached the scene along with a heavy police contingent.
Crime Scene Unit officials and forensic teams were also dispatched to collect evidence, indicating the seriousness of the investigation. Police sources said that early findings suggest the killings may have stemmed from a long-standing family dispute, though officials stressed that all angles are being thoroughly examined.
“The suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident,” a police spokesperson said, adding that multiple raids are underway at different locations to apprehend the accused.
The brutal nature of the killings has raised concerns about rising domestic violence and unresolved family conflicts escalating into fatal crimes. Local residents described the incident as deeply disturbing, with many calling for swift justice.
Authorities have assured that the investigation will be carried out transparently and that the suspect will be brought to justice soon. Further updates are expected as forensic analysis and witness statements shed more light on the motive and sequence of events.
