Sindh Health Minister Hails China Partnership Push as COMSTECH Hosts Key Health Talks

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho praises COMSTECH-led initiatives as Pakistan and China explore deeper collaboration in healthcare, research, and traditional medicine.

A renewed push to deepen Pakistan–China cooperation in healthcare and scientific research came into focus in Islamabad on Thursday, where Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho praised ongoing initiatives aimed at transforming public health systems through collaboration and innovation.

During her visit to the COMSTECH Secretariat, Dr. Pechuho attended an interactive session with an 11-member Chinese delegation comprising experts in traditional Chinese medicine, public health, and nutrition. The delegation is visiting Pakistan under initiatives designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in health sciences and technology.

Dr. Pechuho highlighted Sindh’s ongoing health sector reforms, including expanded vaccination drives, efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services, and broader measures to improve public health delivery across the province. She emphasized that enhanced cooperation with China particularly in traditional medicine and healthcare innovation—could play a significant role in improving health outcomes.

The meeting underscored the growing importance of knowledge exchange between the two countries, especially as both sides look toward integrating modern medical practices with traditional healing systems.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH, said the organization is actively working to enhance scientific and health cooperation among member states. He noted that COMSTECH has already trained a large number of doctors, scientists, and virologists, and continues to implement collaborative programs with China, a country recognized for its advancements in healthcare research and innovation.

Chinese delegation members presented their ongoing work in traditional Chinese medicine and modern healthcare systems, sharing insights on potential applications and research collaboration. Both sides explored opportunities for expanded partnerships in health sciences, joint research projects, and structured knowledge-sharing frameworks.

Officials from OIC-COMSTECH, including Deputy Secretary Staff to the Sindh Health Minister Ali Nawaz Channa and Special Assistant Dabeer Ahmad Khan, also attended the session.

The discussions reflected a broader vision of COMSTECH to strengthen scientific cooperation across the Islamic world and partner countries, aiming to support sustainable development and improve healthcare delivery systems through innovation and collaboration.
