Actress Mishi Khan’s Urgent Plea Sparks Alarm Over Midnight Evacuation in Islamabad

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Pakistani actor and activist Mishi Khan urges authorities to reconsider sudden evacuation orders for a residential building in Islamabad, citing humanitarian and logistical concerns.

ISLAMABAD: A sudden evacuation order for a residential building near Serena Hotel has triggered concern after actor and social activist Mishi Khan publicly appealed to authorities, highlighting the distress faced by residents forced to vacate on short notice.

Mishi Khan, known for her iconic roles in PTV classics including Uroosa, Ajaib Khana, and Landa Bazaar, shared an urgent video message describing a late-night police raid at a building identified as Constitution 1. According to her account, residents were instructed to vacate the premises immediately, with minimal time to arrange relocation.

“Share my message as it is urgent,” she said in the video. “There is a residential building right opposite Serena Hotel which was raided by police last night. Residents have been ordered to evacuate overnight without proper notice.”

The actor questioned the practicality of such orders, especially given the timing. She pointed out that the evacuation coincided with Labour Day, when access to workers and logistical support is limited. “How do you expect families to move out within a day without labourers and even a single loading lift?” she asked, adding that police personnel were reportedly stationed at the site awaiting compliance.

The situation, she said, has caused widespread anxiety among residents. Khan revealed that her close associate, actor Ghazal Kaifi, is among those affected and is experiencing significant mental stress amid the uncertainty.

In her appeal, Khan directly addressed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Pakistan Army, urging intervention and reconsideration of the timeline. “At least a one-month notice should be given. How can one loader handle the evacuation of an entire building?” she said.

The incident has raised broader questions about due process and the rights of residents in eviction cases, particularly in high-profile areas of the capital. While authorities have not yet issued a detailed public response, the matter is gaining traction on social media, with users echoing concerns over the lack of prior notice and humane handling.

Mishi Khan, who has consistently used her platform to speak on social issues, once again finds herself at the center of a public debate this time amplifying the voices of residents facing sudden displacement in Islamabad.
