Chiniot MPA Under Pressure After Momina Iqbal Submits Evidence in Cyber Harassment Probe

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

LAHORE: Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal’s allegations of online harassment and threats have triggered a high-profile cybercrime inquiry, with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar and his wife Samira Khan summoned by authorities for questioning.

According to local media reports, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore launched an investigation after the actress submitted a formal complaint alleging harassment, intimidation and online abuse.

Sources familiar with the matter said the agency summoned the provincial lawmaker and his wife on May 22 to record their statements as part of the ongoing probe.

The controversy intensified after Momina Iqbal publicly shared details of the alleged harassment on social media, claiming that she and her family had been facing pressure and threats for an extended period. The actress also alleged that previous attempts to seek legal action had not produced results due to the influence of politically connected individuals.

Officials investigating the case are reportedly reviewing digital evidence, social media activity and communication records submitted by both parties.

Momina Iqbal’s legal representatives claimed that the actress’s fiancé was also subjected to threats after her engagement became public. They said all available documentary and electronic evidence had been handed over to investigators.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing Saqib Chadhar denied the allegations, describing the matter as a personal dispute rather than a harassment case. According to the defense, the actress and the lawmaker had known each other for several years and their relationship later deteriorated over personal disagreements.

The case has attracted significant attention on Pakistani social media, where users are demanding a transparent investigation and accountability if the allegations are proven.

The NCCIA has not yet announced whether formal criminal charges will be filed, saying investigations remain underway.
