Federal Minister Amir Muqam addresses a PML-N rally in Bisham, Shangla, criticizing PTI’s tenure and pledging accountability for alleged corruption and public funds.
SHANGLA: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Amir Muqam has vowed accountability for alleged corruption and misappropriation of public funds, saying the provincial government’s priorities include improving services, development and public welfare.
Addressing a large PML-N public gathering in Bisham, Shangla, on Sunday, Muqam said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rejected what he described as a politics of confrontation. The party organized the rally as a “Day of Thanksgiving” to mark what it called the end of PTI’s 14-year rule in the province.
Thousands of PML-N workers and local residents attended the gathering, where participants chanted slogans in support of Muqam, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Participants also expressed support for Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Pakistan Army, while raising slogans in favor of peace, national security and stability.
During his address, Muqam thanked attendees for joining the rally at short notice. He also challenged social media commentators based abroad to visit Shangla and witness the public gathering for themselves.
He said similar large gatherings had previously been held in Buner and Swat, arguing that people had grown dissatisfied with the previous provincial government and its leadership. He accused the former government of relying on what he called a false narrative on social media and failing to establish credibility nationally and internationally.
Muqam further criticized PTI’s tenure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claiming that residents were relieved by the end of its rule. He alleged that the former chief minister had failed to present an effective agenda for public welfare and said people understood the party’s political objectives.
The federal minister said PML-N did not believe in politics of revenge but maintained that every rupee allegedly taken from the public and the state would be accounted for.
“Every single penny taken will be accounted for,” Muqam said, reiterating his commitment to accountability for alleged financial wrongdoing.
He added that work was underway to improve different sectors across the province and said residents would see changes in the coming period. He pledged to continue working through relevant forums for public welfare, prosperity and development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Muqam also highlighted the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, saying their contributions had played a significant role in safeguarding the country. He praised Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, adding that Pakistanis holding the country’s passport felt proud.
Among those attending the rally were provincial lawmaker Muhammad Rashad Khan; former Chakisar tehsil nazim and PML-N Shangla district general secretary Bakht Alam Khan; former Puran tehsil nazim Muhammad Ali; former Alpuri tehsil nazim Muhammad Tahir; district PML-N President Intikhab Alam Khan; Humayun Khan; Sabir Rahman; and former provincial lawmaker Qaimus Khan, identified in the supplied report as the party’s president for Swat.
The allegations against the former provincial government were made by Muqam during his political address and were not independently established in the supplied material.
