Security sources say Adil Shah alias Darvesh was linked to Fitna al-Khawarij and was involved in extortion, attacks on security forces and providing accommodation to foreign terrorists.
QUETTA: Security forces have killed a terrorist commander during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Qila Saifullah district, security sources said, as counterterrorism operations continue under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3.
The slain commander was identified as Adil Shah, alias Darvesh. According to security sources, he had been associated with what they described as the Indian-backed Fitna al-Khawarij since December 2020 and had overseen the group’s financial affairs since 2024.
The sources alleged that Darvesh provided accommodation to foreign terrorists in the Zhob, Sherani and Shaban areas. They also accused him of involvement in extortion for ransom and attacks on security forces.
According to the sources, 19 first information reports (FIRs) had been registered against the commander, and a bounty of Rs2.5 million had been placed on his head.
The sources said security forces would continue operations against terrorists in Balochistan until the last terrorist was eliminated.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti praised the operation, describing the killing as a demonstration of the security forces’ professional capabilities.
Bugti said the sacrifices made by security personnel in the fight against terrorism were commendable and that the entire nation stood with the forces in the campaign.
He added that the fight against terrorism would continue until the threat was eliminated and the public was protected.
Shahid Rind, the chief minister’s aide on information and political affairs, also praised the operation. He said it reflected the security forces’ professional expertise and an effective strategy against elements threatening peace in the province.
Rind stressed the need for indiscriminate action against terrorists and their facilitators, according to the information provided.
The operation comes amid continuing counterterrorism efforts across Balochistan.
On Oct. 19, security forces killed four terrorists during operations in the province’s Kalat district, while an army major was martyred in an improvised explosive device blast in Gwadar district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
