Pakistani actress Alizeh Shah has triggered a heated debate online after mocking the growing short haircut trend among actresses and warning fans against blindly copying celebrity looks.
The discussion emerged after several well-known Pakistani actresses, including Hania Aamir, Saheefa Jabbar Khattak, Sajal Aly, and Saboor Aly, adopted short hairstyles in recent months, making bob cuts and shoulder-length looks increasingly popular in the entertainment industry.
Taking to Instagram, Alizeh Shah advised fans not to “sacrifice” their hair after being inspired by actresses. She claimed that many celebrities either use wigs, hair extensions, or pin up their hair to create the illusion of shorter styles on-screen.
The actress stated that ordinary people do not have the same luxury as celebrities, saying that actresses can easily switch to wigs after cutting their hair, while others may need years to regrow their hair to their desired length.
However, the most controversial part of her statement came when she described extremely short haircuts as “a form of self-harm,” a remark that quickly sparked backlash and divided social media users.
Ironically, many users pointed out that Alizeh Shah herself previously sported short hair and appeared with a bob cut in the television drama Taana Bana. Critics accused her of hypocrisy, arguing that she once promoted the same fashion trend she is now criticizing.
Others defended the actress, saying her comments were intended as practical advice for young girls who may impulsively follow celebrity beauty trends without considering the long-term consequences.
Some users also dragged the conversation toward the actress’s personal appearance, with a section of social media mocking her for allegedly undergoing cosmetic procedures while now speaking against beauty-related trends.
