Punjab Launches Massive 24/7 Animal Care Operation as Eid-ul-Azha Activities Surge

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

As Eid-ul-Azha activities intensified across Punjab, the provincial Livestock and Dairy Development Department launched a large-scale round-the-clock veterinary operation to ensure the health and safety of sacrificial animals throughout the festive period.

The department introduced special emergency arrangements aimed at supporting farmers, cattle traders, and the general public during one of the busiest livestock seasons of the year. Authorities focused on disease prevention, animal treatment, and safe livestock movement to minimize health risks during Eid celebrations.

Before Eid, officials issued detailed advisories regarding safe transportation of animals and preventive measures against contagious diseases. Farmers and livestock owners were also encouraged to report sick animals through the ADRSInfo Farmer App, which remained operational throughout the Eid holidays.

To strengthen animal healthcare services, authorities ensured the availability of essential medicines for treatment and disease prevention in different districts. Special spray campaigns were also launched in cattle markets and livestock areas to protect animals from ticks and other harmful infections. Officials said these activities played a key role in improving cleanliness and maintaining healthier conditions at livestock sale points.

A central control room in Lahore remained active throughout Eid-ul-Azha, while divisional control rooms across Punjab continued monitoring emergency situations without interruption. A toll-free helpline was also kept operational to guide citizens and respond to complaints or requests related to animal health services.

Veterinary hospitals at district and tehsil levels stayed open 24 hours a day during Eid. In Lahore, multiple veterinary facilities continued uninterrupted services to ensure animal owners could access treatment and medical assistance at any time.

The department also launched extensive awareness campaigns through television, newspapers, seminars, and social media platforms. Citizens received guidance about proper animal care, disease prevention, and safety measures to follow during Eid-ul-Azha.

According to official reports compiled until May 28, veterinary teams provided services at hundreds of cattle markets and livestock sale points across Punjab. More than 2,000 officers and staff members performed duties during the Eid period, while mobile veterinary teams visited different locations to provide emergency treatment and support.

Officials said preventive spray campaigns covered more than half a million animals across the province to reduce the risk of disease outbreaks. Thousands of animals also received medical treatment during the operation, highlighting the scale of veterinary services provided during Eid.

To strengthen disease surveillance and monitor livestock movement, authorities established check posts on key provincial routes. Animals and transport vehicles were regularly inspected and sprayed as part of biosecurity measures introduced during the Eid season.

Officials stated that the department’s efforts reflect its commitment to supporting livestock farmers, protecting animal health, and ensuring the availability of healthy sacrificial animals across Punjab during Eid-ul-Azha.
