WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Washington, D.C. on an official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and the United States amid evolving regional challenges.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Dar was received at the airport by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh along with senior officials of the Pakistani Embassy.
During the visit, Dar is scheduled to hold key meetings with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the US National Security Advisor. The discussions are expected to focus on bilateral relations, diplomatic cooperation, and regional developments affecting South Asia and the broader region.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said the talks would cover a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including regional security dynamics and cooperation on strategic matters. The visit comes at a significant time as Islamabad and Washington continue efforts to maintain diplomatic coordination on regional peace and security challenges.
Officials familiar with the visit said both sides are likely to exchange views on political stability, counterterrorism cooperation, economic engagement, and developments impacting regional geopolitics.
Pakistan and the United States have maintained longstanding diplomatic relations, though ties have experienced fluctuations over the years due to changing regional priorities and global strategic interests. The Foreign Office confirmed that Dar will conclude his official engagements in Washington and return to Islamabad later the same day following the completion of his scheduled meetings.
