Former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq strongly criticized the federal government and responded to recent political statements attributed to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, arguing that democratic principles require equal political space for all parties.
Speaking on current political developments, Siraj-ul-Haq expressed concern over reports of restrictions on the activities of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Gilgit-Baltistan. He said any attempt to limit a political party’s participation in public affairs would be contrary to democratic values and constitutional freedoms.
The veteran politician maintained that political differences should be addressed through dialogue, elections, and democratic processes rather than administrative restrictions. He emphasized that every political party should have the right to present its agenda before the public and compete fairly within the framework of the law.
Siraj-ul-Haq also urged political leaders and state institutions to focus on resolving public issues, including economic challenges and governance concerns, instead of deepening political polarization. He called for national unity and a commitment to democratic norms, saying stability can only be achieved when all stakeholders are allowed to participate in the political process without discrimination.
The remarks come amid continuing debate over political activities and governance issues in Gilgit-Baltistan and other parts of the country.
