Explosion near a girls’ high school and reported threats against educational institutions have disrupted learning activities in several areas of Lower South Waziristan, raising concerns among parents and local communities.
WANNA: An explosion near the main gate of Government Girls High School Janan Kot in Lower South Waziristan damaged a section of the school’s boundary wall but caused no casualties, school officials and local sources said.
According to local reports, explosive material had been planted near the school’s entrance and detonated with significant force. The incident occurred when no academic activities were taking place on the premises, preventing any loss of life.
The blast comes amid reports that unidentified armed individuals have issued threats to both public and private educational institutions in several parts of Lower South Waziristan, including Birmal tehsil. The reported warnings have disrupted educational activities and triggered concern among students, parents and teachers.
Education department sources said some schools have been temporarily closed or have limited classroom activities because of security concerns. Authorities indicated that precautionary measures were taken after receiving reports that students were being discouraged from attending school.
