PML-N President Nawaz Sharif reiterates support for constitutional freedoms in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, urging democratic and legal efforts for public rights while reaffirming the party’s stance on the Kashmir issue.
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has emphasized that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) enjoy full civil and constitutional freedoms and that any struggle for public rights should remain within the framework of the Constitution and law.
Addressing a meeting focused on PML-N’s affairs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif said the party maintains a clear and unwavering position on the Kashmir dispute. He reiterated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be granted their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions.
The former prime minister stated that PML-N has consistently prioritized the welfare, development, and fundamental rights of the people of Azad Kashmir. He stressed that the party remains committed to improving public services and promoting progress across the region.
Expressing concern over the current political situation in AJK, Nawaz Sharif noted that citizens enjoy comprehensive civil liberties under the Interim Constitution Act of 1974. He urged all stakeholders to focus their energies on public welfare, economic growth, and regional development rather than political confrontation.
He further stated that PML-N would continue to play a constructive and effective role alongside all democratic forces to strengthen democratic institutions and safeguard public interests in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
