Senate Standing Committee on Interior approves amendment proposing free official blue passports for former parliamentarians, their spouses, and eligible dependent children.
ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior has approved a proposed amendment that would entitle former members of Pakistan’s Parliament, along with their spouses and eligible dependent children, to receive free official (blue) passports.
The amendment, titled The Members of Parliament (Salaries and Allowances) (Amendment) Act, 2026, was presented by Senator Abdul Qadir during the committee’s meeting and received the committee’s approval.
According to the proposed legislation, all former members of Parliament will be eligible for complimentary official blue passports. The bill also extends this benefit to their spouses.
In addition, dependent children under the age of 28 will qualify for free official blue passports under the proposed amendment.
