Farhan Yousaf-led Pakistan U19 squad will play one Youth Test and four Youth ODIs during its England tour.
LAHORE: Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team departed Lahore for England on Sunday, beginning a five-match tour that will provide the country’s emerging cricketers with valuable experience in English conditions.
The 15-member squad, led by captain Farhan Yousaf, will play one Youth Test and four Youth One-Day Internationals during the tour, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The tour will open with a four-day Youth Test against England from Sept. 2 to 5 at the historic Arundel Castle Cricket Ground. The match will give both sides an opportunity to assess their red-ball skills in conditions different from those they typically encounter at home.
The four-match Youth ODI series will begin Sept. 9 at Arundel. The second ODI is scheduled for Sept. 12 at Guildford, followed by the final two matches at Wormsley on Sept. 14 and 16.
Farhan returns as Pakistan U19 captain after leading the team to the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup title last year. He will be joined by several players with previous Under-19 international experience, while six members of the squad are in line to make their international youth debuts.
Pakistan’s bowling attack features four pacers Mohammad Sayyam, Abdul Subhan, Rizwanullah and Umar Zaib. Mohammad Huzaifa and Niqab Shafiq will provide left-arm spin options.
The squad completed a training camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore before leaving for England. Head coach Shahid Anwar and his support staff will oversee the team throughout the tour.
