Pakistan’s telecom regulator has invited bids for a dedicated email security solution designed to filter malicious messages and support continuity of official communications.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated procurement of a dedicated email security solution to strengthen protection for employees against spam, phishing attempts and other potentially malicious messages.
According to a procurement notice published on the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) portal, PTA has invited bids for the supply of a spam protection device along with employee licenses. The tender was advertised on Sept. 4, 2026, with bids scheduled to close on Sept. 21.
The proposed system is intended to strengthen security around PTA’s official email accounts by detecting and filtering potentially harmful communications before they reach employees’ inboxes. Such threats can include phishing messages, suspicious attachments and emails designed to impersonate legitimate senders.
Email remains a common channel through which attackers attempt to gain unauthorized access to organizational systems. Deceptive messages can be used to obtain confidential information and login credentials or deliver malicious software through infected attachments and links.
System to Support Email Continuity
The planned solution is also expected to help maintain access to incoming official correspondence if PTA’s primary email service faces a temporary disruption.
According to the reported procurement details, this capability could help reduce the risk of important communications being interrupted or lost during an email service outage. Employee licenses would extend the protection across PTA’s official email environment.
The procurement is specifically related to PTA’s internal communications infrastructure. It is separate from systems used to identify or block fraudulent calls and spam text messages received by mobile subscribers.
The tender has been issued under reference number PTA/ICT/P63698/2026 through a competitive bidding process using the single-stage, one-envelope procedure. Bids were scheduled to close at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21, while their opening was scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
The available procurement information does not establish that a contract has been awarded or that the proposed system has already been deployed.
