Information Minister Attaullah Tarar challenged Fawad Chaudhary’s generalisation about women drivers and cited women participating in local jeep rallies.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has rejected remarks by former federal minister Fawad Chaudhary about women drivers, describing them as a generalisation without empirical evidence.
Responding to Chaudhary on X, Tarar said women drivers had demonstrated their abilities in competitive events, including local jeep rallies.

“Chaudhary sahib, this is a generalisation without any empirical evidence,” Tarar wrote in his response.
He said Chaudhary should meet some of the women drivers who participate in local jeep rallies and, according to Tarar, often beat men in competitions.
Tarar also questioned what he described as recent criticism directed at women, referring to comments made by another political figure, Shafi Jan, on the previous day.
“What is it with attacking women these days?” Tarar said.
The minister added that the remarks attributed to Shafi Jan were “vile and filthy comments” before linking them to the latest discussion involving women drivers.
Tarar’s response came amid an exchange on X concerning women’s driving abilities. He argued that broad claims about women drivers should not be made without supporting evidence and pointed to women’s participation in motorsport-related activities as an example.
His reference to local jeep rallies was intended to highlight the participation of women in competitive driving events, where drivers compete regardless of gender.
