Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulates Dr Najeeb Naqi on his election as president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirms federal support for the region.
NEW YORK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday congratulated Dr Najeeb Naqi on his election as president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), expressing his best wishes for his new responsibilities.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif said Dr Najeeb Naqi’s election reflected the confidence of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The prime minister expressed hope that the newly elected AJK president would perform his responsibilities effectively and play a meaningful role in promoting the development, prosperity and welfare of the people of the region.
Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated the federal government’s commitment to providing full cooperation for the development and prosperity of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The prime minister’s remarks came after Dr Najeeb Naqi was elected president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the premier conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to Dr Najeeb Naqi following his election to the constitutional office.
Shehbaz Sharif said he hoped the new AJK president would work toward advancing the interests and welfare of the people while contributing to the region’s development and prosperity.
The federal government, he added, would continue to extend its full cooperation for the progress and well-being of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
