Lahore to Celebrate Basant for 10 Days From Jan. 29 to Feb. 7, 2027

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approves a 10-day Basant celebration in Lahore, with a one-day break on Feb. 5 for Kashmir Day.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a 10-day Basant celebration in Lahore from Jan. 29 to Feb. 7, 2027, with a one-day break on Feb. 5 to observe Kashmir Day, Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bokhari said in a post on X.

Bokhari said Maryam Nawaz had directed that the festival be extended to 10 days to mark the arrival of the new year and provide Lahorites with an opportunity to celebrate the city’s cultural and historic traditions.

According to the announcement, Basant festivities will begin on Jan. 29 and continue through Feb. 7. The celebrations will be suspended for one day on Feb. 5 because of Kashmir Day observances.

Bokhari said Lahore had hosted Basant from Feb. 6 to 8 earlier this year after a 25-year hiatus. The 2026 celebrations marked the festival’s return to the city following the long interruption.

Maryam Nawaz said the 10-day festivities would help promote Punjab’s cultural identity and Lahore’s centuries-old traditions around the world, according to Bokhari’s post.

The chief minister also directed authorities to introduce safety and public-facilitation measures that would be stronger than those implemented during the previous Basant celebrations.

She urged citizens and relevant authorities to demonstrate a sense of responsibility, duty and commitment to ensuring the protection of human lives during the festival.

“Human life must be protected,” Maryam Nawaz said in her appeal to the public, according to the statement shared by Bokhari. She called for the same sense of responsibility and care demonstrated during the previous Basant celebrations to be maintained during the upcoming festival.

The announcement sets the dates for the 2027 Basant celebrations in Lahore while placing particular emphasis on public safety and orderly festivities.
