Nidal Hasan Execution Claim: Report Says Fort Hood Shooter Could Face Firing Squad

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A report claims Nidal Hasan could face execution by firing squad on Dec. 3, with the proceedings livestreamed, but independent confirmation remains necessary.

The U.S. military plans to livestream the execution of former Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was sentenced to death for killing 13 people in a 2009 shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. The execution is scheduled for Dec. 3, 2026, and is expected to be carried out by firing squad, according to U.S. military authorities.

The development was reported on Oct. 8 after U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the execution would be made public. A Pentagon official subsequently confirmed to several news outlets that the military planned to livestream the proceedings, adding that further details would be announced later.

Execution Scheduled at Fort Hood

According to an announcement published by the U.S. Army on Oct. 7, Acting Secretary of the Army Adam Telle directed that Hasan’s execution take place at Fort Hood at 1 p.m. Central Standard Time on Dec. 3.

The Army said President Donald Trump approved Hasan’s death sentence on Oct. 2, following the completion of the appeals process that upheld his conviction and sentence. The decision to use a firing squad was subsequently formalized by the Army leadership.

Speaking in an interview with Real America’s Voice, Hegseth said the public would be able to watch the execution. He said the decision was intended to demonstrate the serious consequences of crimes of this nature. The Pentagon has not yet released full details about how the livestream will be conducted.

Background of the Fort Hood Shooting

Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, opened fire at the Fort Hood military installation in Texas on Nov. 5, 2009. The shooting killed 13 people and injured 32 others, making it one of the deadliest attacks at a U.S. military installation.

At the time, Hasan was expected to deploy to Afghanistan in the coming weeks. He was shot by police during his arrest and was left partially paralyzed, later using a wheelchair.

In August 2013, a military jury found Hasan guilty of the shooting and sentenced him to death. His conviction and sentence subsequently survived the appeals process, with the U.S. Supreme Court declining to review his case in March 2025.

An Unprecedented Move in U.S. Military History

If carried out as scheduled, Hasan’s execution would mark the first U.S. military execution by firing squad since 1945 and the first military execution of any kind since 1961, according to reports. The planned livestream has also raised questions about the public visibility of capital punishment and the rules governing military executions.

The decision marks a significant departure from the longstanding practice of conducting executions privately in the United States. Legal and ethical questions surrounding the public broadcast have drawn attention, while details about access to the livestream and the arrangements for witnesses remain unclear.

The execution remains scheduled for Dec. 3, 2026. Further information about the broadcast is expected from U.S. military authorities.
