A young ball boy’s remarkable one-handed catch during Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka in Lahore has gone viral, with reports suggesting a PCB reward and free academy admission.

LAHORE: A young ball boy stole the spotlight at Gaddafi Stadium after taking a spectacular one-handed catch during Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka in the ongoing ODI tri-series, leaving cricket fans and commentators impressed with his remarkable reflexes.

The incident occurred during the fourth over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Kamindu Mendis struck a delivery from Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah for a six towards deep backward square leg.

As the ball travelled towards the boundary, the young ball boy, standing nearby, stretched out his left hand and caught it cleanly with one hand, displaying impressive timing and coordination.

A video of the extraordinary catch quickly circulated on social media, attracting widespread attention from cricket fans. What made the moment even more interesting was the youngster’s reaction. Rather than celebrating or showing excitement, he remained remarkably calm and composed after completing the catch.

His relaxed response also caught the attention of the commentators, who praised his composure and natural ability.

According to media reports, the young ball boy has been identified as Adnan. Reports suggest that he works at a local hotel in Lahore to support his family following his father’s death.

Despite his financial challenges, Adnan reportedly has ambitions of pursuing a career in cricket. He is said to be a talented all-rounder who regularly practises with a local cricket club.

However, limited financial resources have reportedly prevented him from accessing professional coaching and better training opportunities to develop his abilities.

Adnan had reportedly taken time off from his job at the hotel to perform ball boy duties during the match at Gaddafi Stadium.

His remarkable catching ability has since attracted attention beyond the stadium. According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials have reportedly contacted the youngster after his video gained attention.

The reports further suggest that the PCB has offered him a cash reward of Rs4 million, along with free admission to the PCB Cricket Academy.

The reported offer could provide Adnan with an opportunity to receive professional training, improve his cricketing skills and pursue his ambition of progressing in the sport.

While his one-handed catch lasted only a moment, the young ball boy’s performance has brought attention to his cricketing potential and the challenges he reportedly faces in pursuing the game professionally.
