Pakistan’s first indigenously developed FAAZ air-to-air missile has successfully completed its flight test, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aerospace and defence capabilities, according to ISPR.

Pakistan has successfully conducted the flight test of its indigenously developed FAAZ air-to-air missile, marking a significant milestone in the country’s defence industry and efforts to achieve technological self-reliance, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the military’s media wing, the locally developed missile is equipped with an advanced terminal guidance system and is capable of engaging aerial targets at long ranges.

The successful flight test is expected to significantly enhance the operational and defensive capabilities of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), ISPR said, highlighting the importance of indigenous technological development in strengthening the country’s air defence capabilities.

The FAAZ missile’s development reflects Pakistan’s growing technical expertise in the aerospace and defence sectors. ISPR described the locally manufactured missile as a demonstration of the country’s technological proficiency and commitment to self-reliance in defence production.

The successful test represents an important advancement in Pakistan’s efforts to develop sophisticated defence systems domestically, reducing reliance on foreign technologies while strengthening its indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.

Senior officers of the armed forces, scientists and engineers witnessed the successful flight test of the FAAZ missile, according to ISPR.

Their presence underscored the collaborative role of military personnel, scientists and engineers in advancing Pakistan’s indigenous defence technology and developing sophisticated aerospace systems.

The successful test also drew congratulations from the country’s top civil and military leadership.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the chief of army staff and chief of defence forces, and the service chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the achievement.

The leadership acknowledged the successful test as an important development in Pakistan’s defence industry and its pursuit of technological self-sufficiency.

The FAAZ missile’s successful flight test marks another significant step in Pakistan’s aerospace development, demonstrating the country’s ability to develop advanced air-to-air missile technology locally.

According to ISPR, the missile’s advanced terminal guidance system and long-range engagement capability are expected to contribute to the Pakistan Air Force’s operational effectiveness and defensive strength.

The development highlights the growing role of indigenous research, engineering and technological innovation in strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
